St. Patrick's Church, Bangalore, Photographs - 100 Years ago!!
During the term of the previous Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Pat Digby, lots of encouragement was
given to us researchers, and we did come across a fantastic collection of photographs. These were
being hidden for over 75 years, as they were the collection of late Rev. Fr. Maria Antoine Tabard,
one of the former Parish Priests of St. Patricks, who passed away in 1925. The album also contains original
flower decorations, and probably prepared for Fr. Tabard by the Good Shepherd nuns. This album was presented
to the late Rt. Rev. E.L. Kleiner, DD, Bishop of Mysore, on the occassion of the re-opening of St. Patrick's Church
after rennovation in 1899. The album also contained pictures of the Altar at St. Joseph's Boys School Chapel, and
some of the Priests Cemetery at Sacred Heart's Church, and the Catholic Cemetery on Hosur Road.
St. Patrick's was called the Cathedral, as the Bishop found it more convienent than St. Mary's
at Blackpally, Shivijinagar. There are more than 7 Bishops buried in this church, but with the number of
alterations down the years, there are no proper markings to indicate the spot of each grave.

The changed in the Altars of St. Patrick's Church after 1899, and present status
About 2 years ago, Fr. Pat Digby took up the task of reconditoning St. Patrick's Church and replasting
the walls. A few alterations were made like some windows were closed and the colour of the brown stained
glasses of all the windows were replaced, changing the ambiance. The overall job has been very successful, and he needs to be
congratulated on the work. There are no sweepages from the roof, and other places.

Thought for the
Day:"
Blessed are you poor, For yours is the kingdom of God. Blessed are
you who hunger now, For you shall be filled. Blessed are you who weep now, For you shall laugh.
Blessed are you when men hate you, And when they exclude you, And revile you,
and cast out your name as evil, For the Son of Man's sake.
Rejoice in that day and leap for joy! For indeed your reward is great in heaven,
Fon in the manner their fathers did to the prophets.
But woe to you who are rich, For you have received your consolation.
Woe to you who are full, For you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now,
For you shall mourn and weep. Woe to you when all men speak well of you,
For so did they fathers to the false prophets."
Holy Bible: Luke 6:20-26
