Progressive Revelation of God’s Name
The
word dispensation refers to a divine order of management of affairs in the
world. There are three distinct
periods of dispensations in which the One True God revealed Himself and His
Name to His chosen people. The First Dispensation began at the time of Adam and
continued until the birth of the Messiah.
The One True God revealed Himself to His people as the Creator –
Father. (Psm. 64:8; Mal. 2:10) The
name of the Father is YAHWEH (Ex. 3:13-15). Due to the sacredness of His name the Jews called Him Adonay which is
translated LORD in the Bible. The Second Dispensation refers
to the Period when the One True God manifested Himself in the flesh. “And the Word
became flesh and dwelt among us.” (Jn. 1:14) “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His
name YAHSHUA (JESUS), for He will save His people from their sins.”
(Mt.1:21) The Second Dispensation of the Son of God who came
as the Savior of mankind was completed after His death, burial, resurrection
and ascension. The Third
Dispensation began on the Day of Pentecost when God poured out of His Holy
Spirit on the Church (Acts 2). “Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God
has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.” (Acts
2:36) God’s name was revealed in the Great Commission to baptize in
the name (singular) of the Father, Son and Holy
Spirit which was actually administered in the name of
the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:38, 8:16; 10:48;

Dispensation culminates with the Return of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Cor. 15:20-28) God’s Name must be
exalted in all the earth. The name Lord Jesus Christ has been
transliterated into hundreds of languages.
