BIOGRAPHY OF WILLOWYTCH IN PHOTOS AND VIGNIETTES
I was born on Friday, May 17, 1968 at 11:28pm in a town called Huntington, New York on Long Island. My Parents, George and Phyllis, were fresh out of college and starting a new life together when I showed up. I hope they don't hold that against me! By all accounts, I was a pretty good baby - well behaved and not fussy.
By the time I was two years old, I had two baby sisters (Teresa in 1969 and Kristin in 1970) and was starting a life-time love affair with the printed word. It seems likely that it was at this time that I began reading small words as I thumbed the pages of books.
It seemed that by the mid-1970s, my parents had given me enough sisters and decided to stop. The youngest, Victoria, was born in 1973 and we made a cute, if somewhat rambunctious group of girls. There are only two photographs of all four of us together as children.
Growing up in the 1970s in America had it's pros and cons. On the Pro-side, my best friend and "cousin" Folkchick, and on the Con-side, the clothing! I don't remember that red dress much, just that it was very short and I wore white socks with Mary Jane's. The picture was taken in 1975, when I was in 1st grade. My sister, Terri, was still in her OWN grade (kindergarten) at this point, but we had the same style dress for school pictures. She made such a fuss about staying with me the first day that they should have let her go to 1st grade. She wound up in my grade a few years later anyway when she skipped.
There should be laws prohibiting the existence of all school photos. And any pictures taken wearing mustard-yellow sweaters. I had on black and white pants with that sweater and my mom had just chopped my long hair off. She still wants me to have short hair, but now she has no say in the matter...Glad NOT to be nine any more...
My middle school years in Rockland County, New York attending the Rockland Country Day School should have been wonderful, but adolescence is wasted on the young. Are there any more MISERABLE times in life than the awkward years between 10 and 16?
I started North Rockland High School in 1983. Although still very shy and awkward, I joined the Drama Club and Band. There ARE pictures of me in my marching costume somewhere, I'm sure. Not that I am in any hurry to see them... I also had some close friends in High School who were possibly as crazy as I was. Funny how we all thought we would be friends forever and now I don't know where any of them are or what they are doing.
I left New York as soon as I turned twenty-one (and bets were taken that I would be back in a few weeks). I moved to Pinellas County, FL and immediately, I jumped into working at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival - back when it was in Largo and was really something special. For awhile, I worked at Disney World selling ice cream and popcorn at the Magic Kingdom. Check out the mouse ears! I really loved the job, but hated living in Orlando...so back to Pinellas I went and stayed.
In 1999, I met the love of my life - my soulmate and partner, Scullie at the RPG Gaming Group hosted by Lycaeon and Kallysta. I knew I was in love when Scullie took me backstage at the Herc and Xena attraction at Universal Studios in Orlando, but it took awhile for her to succumb to my charms...Must have been the dry wit...Don't we look cute?
After working at a Stupid Day Job for ten years, I made the life altering decision to go back to college. In July, 2003, I received my Associate of Arts degree from St. Petersburg College. These days, I am a full-time student at the University of South Florida - St. Petersburg where I will be graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology on August 13, 2005 - and there WILL be a huge party. I start Graduate work in the USF Department of Women's Studies in Autumn of 2005. Scullie and I are planning our wedding - and hoping some day that it will be LEGAL. But she won't marry me until I get us tickets for a honeymoon in New Zealand! We also want to own a home and fill it with cats (and maybe a child).
I have wonderful friends and a terrific family who have been supporting me all through this crazy life journey. Here are some pictures of them. (If you are part of my friends and family and do not see your photograph here, it's because I DO NOT HAVE ONE - please send me a picture of you...). If you don't want your photo here or would prefer I use a different picture, just tell me. If you don't see your picture here and you think it should be, I probably do NOT have a digital image of you - please send me one.
The children who make my life more exciting and alive!
