Barefoot Theatre Group is inviting you to come and experience Accidental Death of an Anarchist. Don't be scared by the title. The play isn't about people smashing Starbucks windows and getting plenty of airtime on KIRO, KING, and KOMO TV during the WTO Ministerial in Seattle. It is about ordinary workers getting blamed for actions they didn't commit. But, of course, this type of thing never happens in the U.S.A. We never need a scapegoat to explain mysterious plane bombings, federal building bombings, or trade center bombings. And the FBI could be a bit more creative. They always pick bearded men from the Middle East or young 'punks' wearing black. The truth is, the violence occurs in the executive suites located on the 79th floor, not in the 'delivery' van that was parked in space #27 just minutes before the bomb expoded. Accidental Death of an Anarchist is demanding accountability and justice from these power structures. But the beauty of Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo's writing style is that it is relayed to you, the audience, as 100% pure comedy; nothing but grotesque satire. |
