Meet The Barfing Dogs
The Barfing Dog Club was established February 2, 1992 at a meeting held in the present meeting place at Wolverton Field, Niles, Michigan. Officers were elected and we were USUA club 222. When Aero Sports Connections started The Barfing Dogs Became ASC One. There are 30 members with 10 or more active flyers. Meetings are held the first Sunday of every month at Wolverton Field. The Barfing Dogs host two fly-ins each year with one early in the Spring and the second one the weekend after Oshkosh. There are two ultralight instructors on the field and a Challenger II is used for lessons. There is a lot a activity in warm weather on weekends and late afternoons. A model airplane club also uses the field primarily on Saturday and Sunday. The Barfing Dogs and their Families join for at least four potlucks each year and camping trips to Ponderosa Camp Grounds complete with a runway. And KIMO national competition every labor day weekend give flyers and their families a chance to camp out and enjoy each others company with late night campfires and singing and hanger flying. In October the Barfing Dogs have Octoberfest, which is geared for the children and Grandchildren of member and friends. Other clubs come to our events and we attend theirs. Competition is for fun and learning, but sometimes very competitive. The events are fun and the Spectators enjoy the activity. Sometimes they are invited to participate in poker runs and interact with motor vehicles.
