Summary

I found Seabiscuit a wonderful book. The main characters are of course, Seabiscuit, Red Pollard, Charles Howard, and Tom Smith. Seabiscuit is at first, a small, slow, crooked legged racehorse, who transforms himself into a winner with the help of Tom Smith. Red Pollard is the beaten up jockey (person who rides racehorses) who rides Seabiscuit, he too transforms himself into a winner. Charles Howard was the once car seller and maker, who soon became attached to horses after his beloved son, Frankie, was killed in a car accident. He was the owner of Seabiscuit. Tom Smith is the non-speaking trainer of Seabiscuit. He never liked to speak much, but occasionally he would. The story takes place in basically all over the American racetracks. Sometimes occasionally Seabiscuit will go to his hometown in California. Mostly the story is about how Seabiscuit, Tom, Red, and Charles come together starting low, and getting there way up to the best horse in America. The characters all come together when at first Charles Howard wants to start a racing business. He wants the best trainer for all of his horses. That’s when he finds Tom Smith, an unusually quiet guy. Then, when Charles and Tom are in the same place, but don’t know it, they lay eyes on the same horse. That horse was Seabiscuit. Some would think that Charles and Tom were crazy, because Seabiscuit was far from being the perfect racehorse. Soon after they purchased Seabiscuit, they found a jockey that was just like Seabiscuit. That jockey was Red Pollard. These three people and Seabiscuit work their way up to match race with another great horse, War Admiral. Who will win? I won’t give away the answer because then it would give away the whole book. After the match race Seabiscuit eventually retires, but he wins one more race, the hundred grander. If you read this book you will find out why it is called the hundred grander. That was the main race that wanted to be won, besides the match race, in Seabiscuit’s career. He attempted to win this race many times, but never succeeded until the end of the book. Soon after the race Seabiscuit is retired, and Pollard and Smith’s lives soon dissolved, they end up back where they were at the beginning of the book. Howard spent the rest of his days with Seabiscuit. That was the summary of my book report!
Here is a Summary of the book I read called Seabiscuit. Feel free to take a glance.

My Book Report

Horse Health Care is a great book! Cherry Hill wrote it. And photographs are by Richard Klimesh. The genre of the book is non-fiction I don’t usually like non-fiction books, but this one is great! This book is a great step-by-step book for those who want to learn about horses. My challenge level for this book would have to be a 3 because it wasn’t too hard and it wasn’t too easy.
What attracted me to the book was its cover, and how it said Horse Health Care. I am always eager to learn more about horses, and I thought this book would be great for a book report. The main thing the story is about is how to take care of your horse. For example how to muck out a stall, or how to bandage a wound. I have learned so much from this book and I hope to use my new knowledge in my future horse life. What I liked about this book was all of the different things the author talked about. What I didn’t like was how the author used such confusing words in sentences a lot. My overall rating for this book would be a 9 because it was so interesting. The changes I’d make to the story would be to make it more of a kid book with not such big words.
Other books by this author are, 101 Arena Exercises, Horsekeeping On A Small Acreage, Becoming An Effective Rider, Your Pony, Your Horse, From The Center Of The Ring, The Formative Years, Making Not Breaking, Maximum Hoof Power, Horse For Sale, Horse Handling And Grooming, and many more. The author Cherry Hill is an internationally known instructor, horse trainer, breeder, and judge for several national breed organizations. The photographer Richard Klimesh has articles, illustrations, barn designs, and horse tips appear regularly in magazines including Western Horseman, and Horse and Rider.
I would recommend this book for all horse lovers! Who want to learn more about horses. I hope you read Horse Health Care and enjoy it as much as I did!
