Mathematics In Nature

I think that pinapples are another mathimatical thing in nature. Their outer skin is made up of hexagons.

I think berries have a mathematical shape. They are made up of tiny little circles that form into a berry.

I think that spider webs are very mathematical. To me it looks like they are made up of shapes that stay the same, but get smaller and smaller or bigger and bigger.

I think that honeycomb is very mathematical. It has many small hexagon shapes in it.

I think that pinecones are very mathematical. They have a certain pattern on the way they go.I think that the shapes become smaller and smaller and stay the same.

I think that sunflowers are also mathematical. Their petals form triangles, and their seeds, in the middle of the flower, form a certain shape altogether.

This is a type of shell. It has the Fibonnaci Sequence. You can see how it swirls.

Reflection I learned a lot from this math in nature assignment. I learned that there are a lot of things in the world that are mathematical, and that just need to open our eyes and see that. And beauty is in mathematics. I now also think that I will look more carefully at the things around me, and hokw they relate to mathematics. I learned a lot!
