Charlotte Nilsson

Charlotte....Then and now.

At thirteen Charlotte joined a local band in Hovmantorp in the Småland-province in southern Sweden. The band "Bengt Ingvars" became "Bengt Ingvars med Charlotte".

After finishing her compulsory school education Charlotte moved from Hovmantorp to the neighboring town of Växjö where she attended the High School of Performing Arts. She also became the lead singer of the band "Kendix".

Having graduated from the Växjö School of Performing Arts Charlotte moved to Stockholm where took jazz and pop classes at Kulturama. She also started working with dance-coach Emilio Ingrosso through whom she met her fiancé, the brother, Nicola Ingrosso. She continued touring with "Kendix", mainly in Småland.

-1997:Charlotte started singing with the well-established "Anders Engbergs Orkester". After two albums and a couple of songs on the "Svensktoppen"-chart, Charlotte left the band for "Wizex". Charlotte also sung with Björn Hedström at the Swedish national final to the ESC.

-1998: The years with "Wizex" gave Charlotte the opportunity to develop her skills as a performer. Larger venues and professional management produced results. In 1998 the band was nominated for a Swedish "Grammis" for the album "Mot nya mål" and the album "Tusen och en natt" sold gold. Charlotte was ready to go solo.

After being selected as the Swedish contestant for the 1999 Eurovision Song Contest Charlotte went to Jerusalem in late May to compete with her song "Take me to your heaven". She won and her solo career really took to the skies. The following months were hectic for Charlotte, she toured Europe and started working on her first solo album; the self titled "Charlotte". Later in the year Charlotte was voted Sweden's sexiest woman by the magazine Café.

After the release of her first solo album and the European tour that followed, Charlotte began work on her second album; "Miss Jealousy" in late 2000. The Miss Jealousy-project included songwriters Johan Åberg and Paul Rein, known for their work with Christina Aguilera and Victoria "Posh Spice" Beckham among others.

The album "Miss Jealousy" was released in late March, the promotional tour that followed took Charlotte not only all over Europe, but also to Japan. After the promotional tour, Charlotte spent as much time possible working with www.starofhope.org and other charity and fundraising events. At www.starofhope.org/sv/charlotte.shtml you can follow Charlotte and her work with her godchildren in the Philippines and Kenya.

In the spring of 2002 Charlotte went on a tour of Sweden, Finland and Estonia. There is also a promotional trip to Singapore planned. Charlotte will also continue her work with www.starofhope.org. The production of the new album will start this month(September 2002) and will take upto October to finish.
