Interview With Jessica Garlick

Jessica Garlick will represent the United Kingdom in this years Eurovision Song Contest. Read what she has to say about it below

Q: Singing for Britian at the Eurovision Song Contest must be a dream come true. Do you sometimes have to pinch yourself to check that it's all really happening?

A: Yes I do. I don't get a lot of time to step back and think what I'm doing because everything is happening so quickly. Like today, I'm having my pictures taken by OK! Magazine. It was only a year ago I'd be reading it and thinking, maybe one day I'll be in there - or my wedding. Now look at me - and the wedding could still happen!

Q: But this isn't your first attempt at Eurovision....

A: This is the third time I have tried but the first time to be chosen. Hopefully, it will be third time lucky!

Q: A transvestite band are representing Slovenia. What do you think about that?

A: Eurovision is all about what different countries can do. If a country has entered a song, it must be proud of what it has chosen. Variety is the spice of life!

Q: What are your favourite memories of the contest?

A: Obviously ABBA, and also the 1997 winning song Love Shine a Light, sung by Katrina and The Waves. It was the first song I sang when I was 17 and performing in a trio called Addiction in clubs around Swansea.

Q: Have you always wanted to be a singer?

A: Absolutley. My first stage performance was at nursery school when I was 3 and I had to sing Jesus Loves Me. I can still remember seeing all the mums and dads clapping in the audience!

Q: Pop Idol was followed by a sell-out concert tour. Did you enjoy that?

A: Performing with 9 of my best friends was fab! We - the final ten contestants - we're very close.
