Karmen Stavec will represent Slovenia in May with her song 'Lep Poletni dan' translated as 'A Beautiful Summer'.
The songs that will take part in EMA 2003 have been announced. There will be 16 songs battling it it out to represent Slovenia at the 2003 Eurovision Song Contest in Riga. From these 16 there are some popular names including Nuša Derenda who represented Slovenia in 2001 with 'Energy', a big favourite to do it again this year with her song 'Prvic in zadnjic' translated as 'The First and the Last Time'. RTVSLO, the slovenian broadcaster have confirmed that EMA 2003 will take place in Ljublijana on February 15th. 88 songs were recieved by the deadline of which 16 will be chosen by a jury of 4 music experts to partcipate at EMA 2003. The performers of the chosen 16 songs will then take part in a press conference on December 17th during which the draw for the running order of entries performing at EMA 2003 will take place. The winner will be chosen in two rounds. In the first round all of the 16 songs will perform. After the last performance the voting will be split by 50% international jury and 50% televoting. The 3 songs with the highest scores from the first round will then move onto round two where the three songs will perform once again. The overall winner will then be chosen by 100% televoting and will represent Slovenia in Eurovision 2003
RTVSLO, the Slovenian broadcaster, have announced details of their national final. Songs can be sent in until November 27th. Of these, 16 songs will be chosen for the ONE NIGHT final where there will be two rounds. In previous years Slovenia have held the final over 2 consecutive nights but felt this was not the way to go. Becoming more and more popular is having no restrictions on the language of performance and the citizenship of the composers, lyricists and performers. Slovenia will be one of the countries that will have no suxch restrictions. It is thought that the first round will comprise of 50% jury and 50% televoting to decide three winners. These three winners will then go through to the second round where wthey will each perform again and the winner chosen by televoting.
The Slovenian final(EMA), will be held on February 15th 2003.
