GERMANY
Moved: 1989 stayed til 1993
Location: Wiesbaden
Ages: 5-9
Got to learn a little bit of the German language while living there.
My favorite German culture was that their Santa Claus was called Saint Nicholas for Christmas and instead of Santa Claus leaving you presents their Saint Nicholas would leave a shoe full of candy of you mad him a plate of cookies to take with him. My favorite German food was schnitzel because it was some of the best meat I have had in a long time. Having the chance to live in Germany as a military child I learned that many of the things I learned I would take with me as I grew up and realized even more what they meant. I really enjoyed living their in Germany because they taught me that we as a nation need to slow down and enjoy life to the fullest because every moment is a blessing.
We moved to Wiesbaden, Germany in 1989 after leaving Fort Hood, Texas. While living there in Germany I had the chance to attended 1st and 2nd grade and learn more then what most 1st and 2nd graders never get to know. They took us on many fields trips to teach us how things were done back in the 1700 and 1800s and taught us that it took a lot of skill to do something that would be easier now because of technology.
While living there my father decided to take us as a family and have us visit other areas around Germany, like London, Paris, and Chec Republic. I really loved visiting these places because we came to love many French and Germany cultures and foods. My favorite part of French culture was a statue in Paris of a little boy who was peeing and if you threw a coin in the water, the legend was you would have good health for life. My favorite French food was smothered potatoes.
