SO YOU WANT TO GET A BASENJI?
So you've decided you want to get a puppy.  Good for you!  Now there's only a few things you need to decide before you run out and buy that curly tailed wonder!

Before we get started, a note about me.  I have received numerous requests to sell puppies, refer breeders, and tell potential puppy parents whether their families are "suited" for a basenji.  I do not profess to be an expert by any stretch of the imagination, nor do I breed.  I merely love this breed and I have a deep respect for the men and women who work tirelessly to promote and improve this breed.  The best way to decide if your family is "suited" for a basenji is to meet a breeder in person, who can then evaluate you and your family for an honest assessment.  I also cannot tell you who is a "good" breeder just by name alone.  The best way to decide if a Basenji is right for you is to visit the BCOA's breeder referral page, contact a breeder, get to know him or her (and allow them to get to know you), and spend some time with the dogs before you decide.

And now, on to
page two, where we will discuss pet store puppies, backyard breeders, and the various pitfalls one can encounter in the search for the perfect puppy!
