Basics House of Blues aka "Mimi" 1 yr old Mimi was one of my most favorite rescues - she is now in her forever home with a huge grass yard all to herself. Her new owner swears that she does the backstroke across the lawn! |
Welcome to Basic ACD's webpage. Let us just start by saying if you are thinking of owning a cattle dog, or are new to the breed, we can't say it enough - RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH. This is not the breed for everyone - even though in our opinion they are the cutest puppies and dogs you will ever see!! There is a saying - "A Good Cattle Dog is a TIRED Cattle Dog" Since this is sooo true - we are often out with our dogs keeping busy with conformation, obedience, agility, and flyball. So please forgive us in advance if we don't update the pages as fast as we would like to! |
Shep -circa April 1999 |
Mimi circa February 2001 |
Patches was rescued from the pound, where she had been for over six months,. She likes to chase the ball, but won't bring it back. Never has there been such a nervouse nelly in the house, she just loves to be outside! Still she is really trying her best to learn the ropes. |

Basics Rum Jungle, aka "Shep", was our very first cattle dog and first rescue. Little did we know what we were in for. He re-landscaped our back yard for us, by chewing through all six of the tree trunks beaver style, tearing up evey last blade of grass from the lawn, and unstuffing all chair cushions Needless to say we learned some very hard lessons on how to co-exsist with these high energy dogs - Not to mention how creative they can be when they are bored! |
