Eric Clapton is undisputably one of the best guitarists to have ever lived, and undisputably one of my favorite musicians. From his early days with the Yardbirds through his Cream days, from Blind Faith to Derek and the Dominoes and solo, his unique style of playing has contributed to making each of these bands go down in history as helping to reshaping the style of popular music.

Derek

In 1971 with Derek and the Dominoes, Eric recorded perhaps his most famous song, "Layla." This song was was written for Pattie Boyd, the wife of his best friend George Harrison. Though George and Pattie's marriage was deteriorating by this point, they remained married for several years, which was a main cause of Eric's three-year depression and drug addiction. He recovered in 1974 and began releasing very successful solo albums. Three years later he and Pattie Boyd were finally married. The ceremony was conducted in Spanish.
