"Svetog Save" 25, 84300 Berane Phone/Fax: ++381 87 230 104 E-mail: gimpm@cg.yu Gymnasium "Panto Malisic" in Berane was founded 7.09.1913.At the very first beginning there were only 184 students and three professors: Ivo Ipsic, Miho Domancic (Croatia) and Prokopije Vekovic. The first principal was Kosta Kostic (Serbia). Classrooms were inherited from Turks. But, after 1921, lectures had been held in an new built shack and in two buildings from the Turk's times. In 1934/35 begun work in new building. During The Second World War, school worked with breaks. There were 259 pupils in 1942/43 and 2000 in 1981. During all it's work, this school was centre of literary, new knowledge and ideas, centre of science and culture. Now, there's about 500 students in school, and they're taking language or mathematics section, and there's 42 professors working.
Library was founded in 1929, so now, library has a lot of old books, which are very rare. There's 19157 books of different genres, in library. And 2002, "Youth Council" of this high-school renovated school-library by baying the newest bestsellers and in that way the library became opened for a bigger auditorium. How big contribution this high-school has tells the particularity that they won "The 21st July" award in 1978 and the "OKTOIH" award in 1981. This school keeps on motivating young people, helps them to acquire knowledge, so they can go further. There was a lot of successful, famous people who were students of this school. A well-known writers Mihailo Lalic, Risto Ratkovic, Dusan Kostic were all students of high-school "Panto Malisic".
One such organization is "Youth Council of high-school", which enabled realizations of many creative ambitions of young people, and they've founded the school-magazine "ITD" where is represented every aspect of fun and education. And, of course, this organization wouldn't even exist, if there weren't CRS and Society for Tolerance and Equality, which helps them to accomplish their projects. There's also Debaters Club, which enables constructive communication and augmented discussion between young people, where they use all knowledge they have. Debaters Club took the third place on Federal Debaters Contest.
Drama Club exist for a very long period of time. A very famous theatrical criticians always commend their work and sometimes find some new talents. This school is, also, participating in "HELLO EUROPE QUIZ" among all different schools from Serbia and Montenegro. There, they have to improve their knowledge about European Union, and they did, by taking the second place in Belgrade, in February, 2003. But, students of this school aren't improving their knowledge only here, but also all around the world, where they fittingly represent their school and where they ranked themselves among the best students of the world.
