The participants this week are the usual suspects, Berel (BB), and Wiesia (WF).
1 BB Jacob lifted up his eyes and behold Esau came and the men with him. And Jacob prayed to Hashem saying "Hashem, G-d of Abraham and G-d of Isaac my father you said 'I will protect you from all evil.' So please protect me from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau, for he has come to me to do battle with me."
1. WF Yaakov lifted up his eyes and behold Esav and his men came, and Yaakov prayed to Hashem saying, 'Lord, God of Avraham and God of Yitzak, my father, you spoke into me, I am going to keep you from all evil; Do keep me from the hand of my bro, from the hand of Esav because he came upon me to fight with me.
2 BB Men from (among) the enemies of David came and they recounted to Saul saying "Is not David hiding himself in the city of the prophets?" And Saul said to his slaves, "Pursue after him and he will into escape from my hand." And it happened that the messengers of Saul were on the road and behold an assembly of prophets were standing and were prophesying opposite (against?) them, and Samuel the prophet was at their head. And the spirit of G-d happened upon them and they were also prophesying.
2. WF Men from enemies of David came and reported to Saul saying, Isn't David hiding himself in the city of the prophets? And Saul told his servants Pursue after him and he'll not escape from my hand. And the messengers of Shaul were on the road and behold an assembly of the prophets was standing and they were prophesying against them; And Shmuel, the prophet, In the heads, and the spirit of God was upon the messengers unto Shaul and they were also prophesying.
3 BB And the day came when (???) one of the king's slaves lifted himself up and he said in his heart I shall rule over Israel. And men from the heads of the people assembled before him and them made him king over them. And they send messengers to all of the cities of Israel saying, "Who is David and what is his house that he should rule of Israel? Behold we have chosen a man from the offspring of Saul to rule over us."
3. WF Behold the day and one of the servants of the king will lift himself up and he will say in his heart, 'I'll rule as king of Israel', and the men from the heads of the people (=elders) will gather together unto him and they'll make him to reign over them and send messengers to all the cities of Israel saying, 'Who is David and what is his house that he is to reign in Israel? Behold, we have chosen a man from the seed of Shaul to be a king over us.'
4 BB Behold days are coming and (when?) it will happen that your children will be in distress and they will go to this great and hold house and they will pray to you with a broken spirit and with a full heart and their prayers will come to your ears and your will remember them and you will not hide your face from them any longer.
4. WF Behold days come and your sons will bein distress and come unto this great and holy house and they'll pray to you in the broken spirit and the heart peace, and prayers'll come to your ears and you'll remember them and you'll not hide your face again from them
5 BB On that day, said Hashem, I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh and there will not be war anymore and there will be peace in all the world, and
righteousness will rule in the heart of man.
5. WF On that day, Hashem said, 'I'll judge my spirit upon all the flesh and war will not be no more and there will be peace in all the earth and righteousness will rule in the heart of man.
6 BB Why does the wicked man boast before your eyes, on the day of judgement he will not escape. But I will pray to Hashem who hears the prayer of his servant.
6. WF Why will the wicked man magnify himself before your eyes? On the day of the judgement you'll not escape! And I will praise Hashem, the one that listens unto the prayer of his servant.
7 BB The man and his wife heard the sound of Hashem (who was) walking about in the garden in the cool of the day and they hid themselves amidst the trees. [Rashi and other meforshim suggest that Hashem-Elokim be understood as the subject of mithalech, because of the sense problem of a sound "walking."]
7. And the man and his wife heard the voice of God walking himself in the garden to the wind of the day and they hid themselves in the midst of the trees.
8 BB I truly said in my heart, "I will not speak to the people any more, because there is not in them a fear of G-d." And Hashem said to me "Prophesy again in my name before the palace of the kind, (for) have I myself not sent you?"
8. WF I'll surely speak in my heart. I'll not speak again unto that people because I am not with them. The fear of God was saying unto me, "Prophesy again in my name before the palace of the king. Have I not sent you?'
9 BB And Moses said to the Children of Israel, "Sanctify yourselves - - you, and your wives, and your children - - for Hashem our G-d is descending upon this mountain and he is giving [translate as a participle because it's a perf. vav. consec. following a participle???] to us his Torah."
9. And Moshe was saying to the sons of Israel, "Sanctify yourselves, you, your wives and your sons because Hashem, your God will go down upon this mountain.
10 BB The Children of Israel went out to war with their enemies, and the battle became heavy upon them and they cried out to Hashem-Elokim.
10. WF The sons of Israel went out to fight with their enemies and were heavy upon them. they fought and they cried outunto Hashem, their God.
