Billy Shaw is one of two Buffalo Bills enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio.
During
the '60's the two premier offensive linemen were, Jerry Kramer of the Green
Bay Packers and Billy Shaw of the Buffalo Bills. Elected in 1999, Shaw became the first player elected to the hall, who played his entire career in the old American Football League. Shaw's enshrinement may someday pave the way for other former AFL greats, such as the late Tom Sestak, who deserve to be in the hall.
Drafted in the second round by the Bills in 1961, Shaw was inserted into the starting line up as a rookie and went on to anchor
the offensive line for 9 seasons. In 1962 Shaw began a string of being
selected in 8 straight Pro Bowls, still a Bills record. Only Bruce Smith,
who's been selected to 11, has been selected to more over all.
Today, Shaw
resides in Toccoa, Georgia and is president and chief opperating officer
of Shaw Concrete.
