Test Kits used are Hach Acid Mine Drainage Kits, Hach Sulfate Kits. Some pH is tested using the LaMotte pH kit.
Neff Run sites #1 and #2 are above and below an AMD seep located just off Route 36 1.3 miles south of its intersection with Route 55 at Vale Summit between Frostburg and Midland Maryland. This run is often referred to locally as 'the second trout stream.'
Matthew Run sites #1 and #2 are located on Route 36 1.6 miles south of where it intersects with Route 55 at Vale Summit. There is a turnoff road on the right with Matthew Run flowing under Route 36. The collection sites are across the road about 100 meters up the mountain. Matthew #1 is just above the orange water revealing an AMD seep and Matthew #2 is just below the seep entrance to the stream.
Neff Run site #3 is located further south and is reached by going 0.6 miles south of where Matthew Run goes under Route 36 between Frostburg and Midland Maryland. The water here also has Matthew Run water in it.
Sand Spring Run top site is located west of Frostburg on Route 40 past Kemp Drive where the iron railing on the right ends and there is room to park a car.
Sand Spring Run Kemp site is just across from Kemp Drive only about 100 meters east of Sand Spring Run top site.
Sand Spring Run #2 is located at Frostburg State University where Sand Spring Run goes under Loop Road near the practice fields, library and football field.
