Lesson 5
There are three keywords:
(1) "Salvation" - That means a sacrifice will have to be offered for sin.
(2) "Man" - He is a sinner, lost, without hope, and on his way to hell.
(3) "Jesus Christ" - He, alone, is the remedy and answer to men's sin. He became the sacrifice to rescue man from eternal doom.
II. THEME OF SCRIPTURE DEVELOPED FROM A FIVE-FOLD PERSPECTIVE:
OLD TESTAMENT - Deals with Preparation for Christ (1) He is seen in various types, sacrifices, and ceremonies that symbolized salvation.
(2) They were all preparing the way for His coming.
GOSPELS - Deals with the Manifestation of Christ (1) He came to earth and walked and lived among the people
(2) He manifested Himself before them as the means of salvation on numerous occasions.
John 3:16; John 4:13, 14; John 5:24; John 6:47; John 10:9; John 10:27, 28; John 11:25, 26; John 14:6
BOOK OF ACTS - Deals with the Propagation of Christ (1)Now that Christ ascended back into heaven, He sent His Spirit to live inside His believers and they are to be witnesses unto Him.
(2) The book of Acts shows Spirit-filled men propagating the message of salvation that comes through Jesus Christ.
Acts 4:12; Acts 5:29-32; Acts 8:5; Acts 9:20; Acts 13:38; Acts 17:1-3
THE EPISTLES - Deals with the Explanation of Christ (1)In Paul's epistles, he goes into great detail about the various ramifications of Salvation and how it was accomplished.
Romans 3:21-24; Romans 5:1; Romans 5:9,10; Romans 10:13
(2) John's epistles also explain the message of salvation very simply as related to Christ.
I John 5:9 - 13
THE REVELATION - Deals with the Consummation in Christ (1) Chapter 1 deals with the past, Chapters 2 and 3 deal with the things present in John's day, and Chapters 4 through 11 deal with the future.
(2) Within each of these three main divisions of the book, salvation through Jesus Christ appears again.
Revelation 1:5; Revelation 2:8; Revelation 5:8, 9; Revelation 21:23; Revelation 22:21
And so, in conclusion, and without a doubt, throughout the Scriptures runs the theme of the salvation of man through Jesus Christ alone.
