Lesson 9
A. THE REALITY OF HIS OMNISCIENCE
1. His Knowledge is Comprehensive - Isaiah 46:9-11, 42:9
1) Since God is eternal, He knows everything immediately and simultaneously.
2) He doesn't learn anything new by observing the succession of events that occur in time.
3) While reading Adam's mind, He also would know your thoughts down the corridors of time.
4) The Bible speaks of some of the various details of His omniscience:
*Psalm 147:4 (His omniscience in relation to the stars)
*Psalm 50:11(His omniscience in relation to birds & beasts)
*Matthew 10:29-30 (His omniscience in relation to sparrows & the hair on your head)2. His Knowledge is Constant
1) Since God is unchanging, His knowledge never increases or decreases.
2) If it increased, that means there were some things He didn't know, and He wouldn't be God.
3) If it decreased, that means He doesn't know as much as He used to, and He wouldn't be God.
3. His Knowledge is Contained Within Himself - Isaiah 40:13-14
1) No one taught God what He knows.
2) He never had to go to some school to learn.
3)There never has been a time in which God didn't know all things. He always has and He always will.
4) We learn from parents, teachers, pastors, Sunday School teachers and watching others. Whereas, there is nothing for God to learn, because He knows it all and that knowledge is contained within Himself.
B. THE RELEVANCE OF GOD'S OMNISICENCE It leads to:
1) Agitation for the Lost (Psalm 73:8-9,11)
2) Assurance When Misunderstood (John 10:27-39)
3) Assistance When In Need (Matthew 6:25-32, 6:8)
4) Admission of Sinful Thoughts (I Chronicles 28:9; Ezekiel 11:4-5)
5) Acceptance Even When I've Sinned.
Peter is an example:
*Peter's Declaration that he will never deny the Lord Jesus -Matthew 26:30-35
*Peter's Denial of the Lord Jesus - Matthew 26:69-75
*Peter's Delightful restoration by the Lord Jesus - John 21:15-17
