Posse

If you love the action of classis westerns from the The Good, The Bad and The Ugly to Unforgiven, get ready to join Mario Van Peebles' Posse!  Hailed by critics and audiences as "stunning," "thrilling," and "killer entertainment."  Posse comes at you with sixguns blazing in a classic Western that adds an exciting chapter to the colorful history of the wild west.  The time is 1892.  Jessie Lee (Van Peebles) is a sharpshooter who has fought the front line battles of the Spanish American War, only to be betrayed by his corrupt colonel (Billy Zane).  He bands together with his lieutenant Little J (Stephen Baldwin), the giant Obobo ("Tiny" Lister), Weezie (Charles Lane), the riverboat gambler Father Time (Big Daddy Kane) and others, forming a posse that blazes across the west with vengeance and justice on their minds.  Heroes, villains, gunslingers, outlaws and rebels - a roisterous supporting cast including music stars Tone Loc and Isaac Hayes, screen stars Pam Grier, Woody Strode, Melvin Van Peebles, and Blair Underwood, comedian Nipsey Russell, and more - turn Posse into a wild ride from start to finish.

Running time 113 mins.  Polygram Video 1993  Rated R

Personal rating:

This is a very good movie.  It shows a different side to westerns.  Billy Zane plays the bad guy role to the hilt, Mario Van Peebles is a very handsome cowboy.  There's a couple of dry moments in this film but they are forgiven with the rest of the action going on.  :-)

On a scale of 1-10, I give it a 8
