Glenn Horiuchi

Glenn Horiuchi was a very special guy.

More than with anyone else, I was comfortable playing solos in the context of his music.

Glenn died recently of cancer. This event was/is a great personal loss.

Here Glenn is pictured in his newly attained Zen robes. He devoted a lot of time to Zen practice. When he became ill he became clear that one of his missions was to teach. Thus he attained these robes.

Just between you and I, Glenn taught whenever he opened his mouth. Or played the piano or shamisen. He wanted the robes, but the teacher didn't need them.
