Summary Roman's Chapter 2
by M. Cantrell
Apparently, Paul is talking to the Jews who were judging what the Gentiles were doing wrong, but they in turn were doing the same sins themselves and thinking God would not punish them for it.  However, Paul tells them that God will punish the wicked and reward the just, and he is no respector of persons.

The Gentiles were not under the law of Moses and would be judged without that law.  The Gentiles had a sense of what was right and wrong.  It did not mean they did what was right just as the Jews had a Law to live under but did not obey it.  They were no better then the Gentiles.

The Jews bragged of what they knew, but they didn't apply it to their lives.  They would teach against certain sins, but commit those sins themselves.  The Jews also used there circumicison to justify their lives but their was an outward ordinance that meant nothing if they did not obey God.  It is the inward heart that is important to God.
