What we can learn from David and Bathsheba.
King David loved God very much and God loved David.  But as
a man his fleshly body was weak. The story of David and Bathsheba has many lessons that Christians today can learn from.

Through God's word we can learn of many mistake that man then as now can make.

David was a man that was very blessed by God, he was a Godly man. Anything his heart desired was given to him. II Sam. 8:12

The Bible doesn't speak much about Bathsheba. In the book of
II Samuel it begins by telling us at evening she was washing/bathing on the roof top, it doesn't said weather she was completely nude or not. (The roof top in though days where use just like another room by people for eating and meeting, praying, etc.).

Now lets think about this for a moment. Would a Godly women have been on the roof  bathing herself, knowing that the roof's were used by everyone? She was close enough for David to see her, was it a habit of David to walk on the rooftop at night?  Did she know this? Had she hope that he or someone could see her? Well if this was her desire it was fore filled. For David seen her and desired her very much. He asked about her, he found out she was married. Did this stop David from desiring her? No it did not.
Even though this Godly man knew it was wrong it did not stop him from having her. Not the fear of her husband, knowing the pentaly for adultery was death, not even the fear of God stop him.
For the lust of his eyes and the weakness of his flesh over came everything else. Now as the story is told in the Bible he sent messengers and they took her to him. Did she go to him willingly or did she go because he was the King and she was afraid not to obey? Either way she went.  He went into her and after this he made sure she was purified from laying with him and then sent her away or back to her own house.

Well old David was feeling pretty good, thought he had gotten away with out being caught (He must have forgotten that God knows and hears everything, Ps.139:7-12,Jer. 32:12) and that his life would go on as usual.Well here come the part of the story he didn't plan for, she was with child (his child) for her husband Uriah was in David army and had been away from home for a while. David's idea for covering up his sin was for Uriah to come home and to lie with Bathsheba and that way the child could be said to be his. But Uriah wasn't as easy to deal with as what David thought he would be, he was a very loyal solider and he felt if his fellow solider's could have no comfort neither should he.  David tried many things to get him to go home to Bathsheba not even getting him drunk worked.

Well now David was really between a rock and a hard place but did he give up, no not him.  He went as far as any man can go to try and cover his sins, he decided to have an innocent man(Uriah) life end so he could marriage his wife and try and cover his sins from man. This he might have done but he could not blind God's eyes to what he did. Do you think David would have married Bathsheba if they hadn't got caught in their sins?

By God's law David should have been put to death for Adultery and Murder.  But God loved him so that he put way his sins but not with out consequences.

David woes just  begain for the punishment of God had not been giving yet.  The Lord took the life of the child David and Bathsheba had. The Lord raised evil up against David from his own house. David took a life by a sword and the Lord told him that the sword shall never leave his house. God gave his wife's to others, all these things he did not secertly like David but before his (David's) eyes.

David life change greatly when he decided to go against God's law and give in to his fleshly desire.(Read Palms 51) He would never forget the things he did. Some sins or the results of those sins can stay with you for years or even a life time and an just like David they can eat away at you.

David did everything humanly possible to cover his sins and no matter what he tried he could not, only with the blood of our Lord and Savior can a Christian cover his sin.
If your not a Christian here is how to become one.

Rememeber not only sinners comit sins, righteous people don't always put God first but we SHOULD!
