| Why must women be silent in the Church?(I Tim. 2:11-14)? |
| I Tim. 2:9 uses "in like manner" which means by the authority that God gave the Apostles. Just as he spoke by authority on public prayer in v.8, he spoke with this same authority in v.11 "Let the women learn in silence with all subjection" I Tim. 2:11 We can see it is clearly speaking to women first of all. The next word we are going to study is learn. How would one learn when the church come together, by the preaching and the teaching that is being presented. So it is plain and simple while these things are going on women must be quiet for it is a commandment of God. For if a women taught or preached she would not be as a student and learn but as a the teacher who would guide . Learn does not include singing or confessing Christ or even saying amen to something. Two reasons are given in v. 13 & 14 for the restriction on women in the church. Neither has to do with customs or culture. 1. Adam was formed first. 2. Eve was deceived by Satan/Devil in the form of the serpent when she believed what he said.(Gen. 3:1-6) She took the leading role as Adam stood back and let her. (Did you know the serpent was the first false teacher or did the first false teaching ever done in the world.) Now Adam who was "with" her was not deceived, he did what he did with his eyes wide open knowing he was braking the commandment give to them by God. Both still sinned but it shows the differences between male and female. When a women took the lead she was easily mislead by Satan's fasle teaching even to the degree that it went against God's commandment. Adam knew the truth but chose to ignore it to please Eve more then God. Just as women today because of the sin commit by Eve will or do have much sorrow and their conception is multiply, as well as much pain in child birth , also the wife will be rule by or under subjection to her husband. These thing are and were the pushisment for women for all time even to the end of the world. Please open your Bible, study and think on these things.
