What the critics say

"The name "Barrelhouse Chuck" says it all, with absolutely out of control boogie-woogie piano, large horns, swinging guitar and appropriately placed amplied juicy harmonica, and yes, this cd can give it to ya straight just like the good Dr. himself. Cut # three has Todd Levine blowing Like Hell, so fat! A (5) Harp Cd, put this in your collection!" - Steve BluzHarp Harvell    “Straight-on, staunchly post-war blues. It’s no stiff-necked preservationist work – this baby cooks!” – Blues Access    “Chuck plays masterfully, and guitarists Billy Flynn and Hash Brown do a super job as well.”Living Blues     “Barrelhouse Chuck is a walking encyclopedia of post-war piano blues licks. The release is not only a tip of the cap to Sunnyland Slim, but to Otis Spann and Pinetop Perkins as well. Goering’s piano work is echoic without being purely derivative of his Chiacgo influences.”Blues News    “The album does precisely what its title implies. Barrelhouse Chuck craftily presents an important slice of blues.”Blues Revue    “Chuck Goering has put together a 17-song CD that pays tribute to virtually every rocker or bluesman who sat behind a piano. There are boogie-woogies, after-hours blues, jump numbers -–something for everyone. The guest artists are plentiful and keep the music from falling into a rut. Of note are Todd Levine’s Sonny Boy-inspired harmonica and Billy Flynn’s stinging guitar solos.”Rock & Blues News
