The Joel Johnson Band played the blues bars of Minneapolis' West Bank neighborhood beginning back in the early 1970's. They released two CD's on Blue Loon Records. They also performed under the name Blue Diamonds with a slightly different lineup. |

The Blue Diamonds consisted of the members of the Joel Johnson Band plus saxophone and/or a guest vocalist. They were the favorite back-up band preferred by number of touring blues singers, and had begun to issue recordings on the Diamond Blue label, prior to Joel's untimely death in 2004.. |
