America's Greatest Little Blues Label (TM)

Featuring the blues of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis/Saint Paul.... We were pleased to showcase the singing, songwriting, and musicianship of some of the finest blues talent anywhere. Most of our CD's were recorded at the now defunct (not to mention world-famous!)  New Moon Studio, which was located on Minneapolis' south side.

When in the Twin Cities...

For the latest word on the BLUES when in Minneapolis/Saint Paul, we suggest these resources:

KFAI-FM (90.3 in Mpls - 106.7 in St Paul) has a number of programs dedicated to the BLUES, including a 4 to 6:30 pm time slot, Monday through Friday, with a different host each day. There are four other weekly blues programs, for a total of twenty-four hours of blues each week. Imagine living in a town where each and every day you can listen to da Blues during your evening commute!

Twin Cities Blues News, a first-rate publication which covers all aspects of blues, with emphasis on the local blues scene, is published monthly and distributed free at most clubs, bars, and record stores, such as the Electric Fetus

Located at 2000 4th Ave South, Mpls - (phone 612-870-9300), the
Electric Fetus has an excellent selection of blues CD's, including many Blue Loon titles.

Situated upriver from Memhis and St. Louis, and just a seven hour drive from Chicago or Kansas City, the Twin Cities have benefitted from the migration of a number of blues pioneers from those locales and rural areas of the South. This dates back to the early sixties, with the arrival of  Lazy Bill Lucas, Baby Doo Caston, Pat Hare, S.P. Leary, Mojo Buford, and Sonny Rodgers. These were soon followed by Lady Blue, Milwaukee Slim,  Percy Strother, Big Walter Smith, and a host of others.

These black musicians and singers in turn inspired a number of local whites to take up the craft, including such notables as Kim Wilson, Lynwood Slim, R.J. Mischo, Teddy Morgan, Pat "Lamont Cranston" Hayes, and Bonnie Raitt.  To this day, there are dozens upon dozen of clubs featuring the blues, and there's something happening, blues-wise, every day of the year in this town. "Little Chicago", Muddy used to call the Twin Cities.
