Rockin' Daddy & the Rough Cuts were originally formed in 1992 from the nucleus of Blues DeLuxe. They went on to release the critically acclaimed 'Straight Shooter' on Blue Loon Records in 1993. The band played through 1996, then took a hiatus as band members pursued personal projects. The Rough Cuts reformed in 1999 with founding members Dan Schwalbe (guitar) and Steve Grosshans (harp & vocals) joined by Marty Bryduck (drums) and Dave Sanny (bass). Veteran players..... Schwalbe has 30 years under his belt, playing with R.J. Mischo, Mojo Buford, Lazy Bill Lucas, and Baby Doo Caston. He was also a member of Blue DeLuxe, The Blues Kings, and Texas Red's band. His smooth guitar style and great sound make his performance one that other guitar players come out to hear and enjoy. Grosshans has, over the past 25 years, fronted the Juke Joints, the Crowns, Blues DeLuxe, and Big Daddy. His soulful baritone and fat-toned harmonica make him one of the top blues performers in a town known for it's excellent harmonica players.Bryduck over the past 20 years has been laying down the groove for the Senders, the Butanes, Blues DeLuxe, Big Walter Smith & the Groove Merchants, Sonny Rodgers & the Cat Scratchers, and Mojo Buford. His laid-back style and ability to 'lock it in the pocket' make him a perfect fit for the Rough Cut's sound. Sanny is another 20 year veteran, with local credits including stints with Big Cat, Off The Hook, the Joel Johnson Band, the Crowns, and Mugsy Lawson. Two great CDs...... Their 1993 CD, 'Straight Shooter' is still a best seller. Check with Blue Loon Records at the link below if your favorite retailer can't find a copy for you. The band released a second CD, (BLN-039) 'Blues and Tall Tales', at the end of April 2000. |
