BROSNA CEMETERY inscriptions.   Co Kerry, Ireland.

THIS IS A CEMETERY .. Lives are commemorated, deaths are recorded, families are reunited, memories are made tangible and love is undisguised.  This is a cemetery. Communities accord respect, families bestow reverance, historians seek information and our heritage is thereby enriched. Testimonies of devotion, pride and remembance are cast in bronze to pay tribute to accomplishments and to the life not the death of a loved one. The Cemetery is homeland for memorials that are a sustaining source of comfort to the living. A cemetery is a history of people, a perpetual record of yesterday and a sanctuary of peace and quiet today. A cemetery exists because every life is worth loving and remembering - always.

Documents in Stone .... Brosna Cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries in Ireland, with marked graves dating back to 1600 and many unmarked, possibly much earlier. It states in the topographical dictionary of Ireland 1837, there are traces of an ancient Church in this Burial Ground.

The following Brosna cemetery transcriptions were taken from "Brosna Snippets of the Past" compiled by Josie McCreesh for the Brosna Heritage Company Ltd in 1999....  listed with the assistance of the Student Summer Scheme 1998. (up to date to the year 1998 with all names readable on headstones) I have added in some names myself that were missing. I find more each trip I make to Ireland.
