Margarets Pages  --  COLOUR IMAGING
Colour is the first thing our eyes see.  It is free with every garment we buy or sew.  Buying the best colours costs no more than buying a not so good one.

YOU MIGHT ASK WHAT IS COLOUR IMAGING
Colour Imaging is simply the careful assessment of natural colouring of eyes, skin and hair in order to determine what colours for clothes and makeup are most complimentary for you.
The single most important factor to consider when choosing colours for your wardrobe and makeup is your skintone.  Your skin is either COOL or WARM, regardless of race.  If your skin has rosy or pink undertones you will look better in cool or blue-based colours; if you have golden or apricot undertones, warm or yellow-based shades will flatter you.  Your best colours will also complement your natural hair and eye tones.
The biggest joy in finding our personal colours is the uplifting and self confidence it brings.  No more wasting money cluttering up the wardrobe with mistakes.  With the right colour our face will appear brighter, healthier, and livelier.  The wrong colours overpower and cause ageing shadows. We can wear any colour really, its just the shade and intensity of the shade that counts.
These pictures show the ladies in the wrong colours and the correct colours
.
A comparison with
WHITE - COOLS would wear pure white or soft white and WARMS would go for ivory or oyster white.

With
RED - COOLS look good in true red, blue red or raspberry tones and WARMS need to look for clear red, dark tomato or orange reds.

With
GREEN shades, a COOL would look at emerald, icy or true greens, or blue green from the very light pastel shades to deep tones.  A WARM would look better in earth greens like olive, moss, jade, or forest, and perhaps lime or yellow-green.
COOL TONES are true, clear, vivid and have blue undertones.

WARM TONES are crisp, muted, natural earth colours with gold undertones.

Some WARM people look good in brown, gold green, orange, whilst others look much better in softer warm tones of peach and turquoise.

Some COOL people can successfully wear blue red, emerald green, royal blue or black, whilst others look much better in softer pastels especially in the blue range and in rose-based pinks.

Thats where COLOUR IMAGING can show you the correct tones for - you.  Within each palette there is a wide choice and variations on COOL & WARM, so you can buy correct tones.
Your Colour Consultant will drape you with large scarf size pieces of fabric in both warm and cool tones to ascertain whether you are WARM or COOL and from that then, whether you might be True Cool, Warm or one of the Neutrals within each.
Some Consultants use the seasons of spring, autumn, summer and winter to describe the COOL/WARM palette for you.  Even within those ranges there can be variations into soft, clear, deep, light.  You should get a wallet of colour samples showing your "true" colours and others you can mix and match for clothes buying, and a good consultant should also tell you the makeup tones to look for too.
This lady is a WARM, but the small photo shows her with incorrect clothing and makeup colours.

Wearing the right clothing colour and makeup makes a difference.  This model is wearing Blush in "Dusty Plum", with lipstick in "Plum" and lipliner in "Burgundy".  Her eyes are done with "Silver", "Periwinkle" and "Midnight Blue" with black eyeliner and mascara.
NEUTRAL COOL part of the Cool palette.  This model wears clothing in the softer lighter shades within the cool palette and her makeup is "Pale Pink" Blush, with "Rose of Sharon" lipstick, and lipliner called "Hot Pink".
Her eyes are done with "Dusty Mauve" and "Rose Brown" shadow, grey eyeliner and navy blue mascara, by an

Why is it that some colours look wonderful on other people but on you they are wash-out!  The following ladies have been coloured by the SEASON, but still fall into WARM & COOL categories.  Each season can also be broken into a little more with Clear, Soft and Deep.
