reading festival...
apologies for the poor photo quality...even though i was at the front, the stage was still just too far away for my camera to take anything decent!
Main Stage Friday August 25th 5:30pm

Sandwiched between Limp Bizkit and the Foo Fighters, The Bluetones were always going to have a job appealing to a large section of the huge crowd that had amassed by 5:30. In true Blue style, however, this didn't appear to concern them as they launched into 'Solomon Bites the Worm', a sure-fire crowd pleaser. On what must have been the hottest day of any British festival this year the band managed to raise the temperature even further, with old favourites such as 'Slight Return' and 'Bluetonic' getting the crowd dancing and singing along despite the heat. Even album tracks 'Zorrro' and 'Mudslide' got an excellent reception, proving not only that Reading was obviously a meeting place for most of the Bluetones fans in Britain, but that the band's music and showmanship can get any audience going. Richard's excellent performance on accordion during 'Slack Jaw' got an especially large cheer, as did the triumphant rendition of 'If...' which finished the 50 minute set. In familiar Bluetones style Mark was carried offstage by a burly sailor in full dress uniform (an idea for the forthcoming tour, perhaps...?) and it looks like fans will certainly have something to look forward to once again when the band return to the road in October.
