My Renault R8 Gordini

Here are some pictures of my 1965 Renault Gordini (R1134). Only 30 of these were brought into Australia in 1965/66.

From L to R R10 (1967), R8G (1965), Dauphine(1958),4CV(1958). The R10 is no longer after it was rolled by one of my sons. No one hurt thankfully	This is a very original R1135 which was at a French car day in Sydney around 1993.
The Immaculately restored R1135 of Simon Fitzpatrick. The car resides in South Australia and was completed in 2001	These yellow cars were madee in Australia in 1969/70 as they were made in the yellow of the hire car company ("Kays Rentacar") that sponsored the Renault rally team in Australia. I have one of the siblings of this car to be restored.

Rallying and Racing Pics of Adam's Gordini

The car has been modified with an R16TS engine fitted running twin Webber 45dcoe carbies, R17TS pistons, Cosworth A3 camshaft grind, and dynamically balanced. Doesn't get pushed past 7000RPM and stays together very well. Develops 145 BHP (SAE), top speed (Eastern Creek raceway, Sydney) 110 MPH. The only problem has been with the old R10 differentials not lasting more than 18 months. The rebuild of the car involved a complete strip down and chassis straighten the roll cage is now steel (to comply with Australian regulations)and also has extension to the front suspension and rear engine mounts. It runs 6" X 14" rims and Yokahama A008 rubber (185/60). Dif ratio going from 4.1 to the Alpine Gordini 3.8

This is not the place for a "burn out". Trying too hard to displace the 4CV.	Made it easy to overtake and the only chance I had.	NOT AGAIN!!! Only this time it was Suzie (Adam's 15 year old sister) at a driver training day Catalina Park November 1997. Once more back to the Body shop for 1998.

Bathurst Historic Rally 1994 - 1st in Class/equal 1st Outright

I am the Navigator on the Historic Rallys - notice the white knuckles on the roll cage.

• Supersprint at Oran Park 1994. After coming first in it's class, it was parked rather hard against a safety fence. Hence no 1995 pictures as the rebuild was only finished in December 1995

Bathurst Light Car Club Hill Climb - Mount Panorama - December 1996

Up the Dipper	Dusk decent	Somewhere up the hill

Coming up the "Dipper" with Adam at the wheel and going down again at twilight. Adam came first in this event in his class. The engine and gearbox had a complete rebuild after this event in 1995. In 1995 at this event, the car broke a universal during the 1st to second gear change.

LBMCCC Hillclimb at Wakefield Park - March 1997

Once again the R8 with Adam at the wheel came first in the class with the "Frog" second.
