Series60 Advanced
by Alberto Bilheteria

Compatible with a wide range of Nokia phones that use Symbian OS (6600, 6630, 6680, 6681, N-series and more), Series60 advanced by Alberto Bilheteria include some exclusive tricks you won't find anywhere. The Symbian scene will never be the same after Alberto Bilheteria...

Read carefully before proceeding:
-Unless stated otherwise, the .ini files mentioned in this page are always found at C:\System\Shareddata\
-To edit a file, you must open and ssave it as Unicode.Alberto Bilheteria recommends you to use System Explorer to edit the .ini files, as it has a Unicode editor and it's the most complete application to perform the actions contained in this page, such as executing files, killing processes, changing file attributes, finding files, and so on.
-Some files like 100058ec.ini are always inn use by the system. If you get a error when trying to edit a .ini file, use some of Alberto Bilheteria's methods to edit files that are in use.
-Note the names of all .ini files are insidde fields. It's for you to copy their names and use "find" in System Explorer to go directly to the right file.
-If some trick requires editing a file thatt doesn't exist in C:\System\Shareddata\ of your device, go to Z:\System\Shareddata\ and look for the file there. If you find it, copy it to C:\System\Shareddata\ and clear the attribute read-only: using System Explorer, highlight the file, and press
Options-edit-attributes
and uncheck "Read-only". Only "Archive" must be checked. After that, you can proceed to edit the file.
-If some trick requires changing something that doesn't exist in the file that should be edited, add it manually in the end of the file, putting a paragraph before the string you create (if needed).Don't forget you have to add parameter=value
Example:
you try to enable VPN menu in your device, but the file 100058ec.ini doesn't contain
WVPNMenu=
.What you have to do is writing WVPNMenu= in the end of the file.Use a paragraph to separate it from the previous string, if there's not any. After having everything alright, follow normally the other instructions of the trick you're trying to do, as if the file of your device had already, by default, the string you've added

Attention:
-The names inside parenthesis after each trick name are the models of those Nokia phones where the trick was tested, and not those models that are compatible with the trick. That means even if your phone model isn't listed here at all, some tricks may work with your phone too.
Change Operator Logo directory (6600, 6681, 6680, some N-series)
Edit the file , writting the path of some folder you want, after
OpLogoDir=
This is the location the phone will look for operator logos

Choose Nokia startup logo type (6681)
Go to the file , open it and set a value from 0 to 2 for
StartupNoteType=
where:
1 - The classic Nokia logo (two hands and "Nokia" written below them) is showed whenever the phone is turned on, before it's ready for use

2 - A Nokia animation is showed whenever the phone is turned on, before it's ready for use
0 - No additional Nokia screen is showed.

Choose/disable the image that appears when the phone is restarted or turned off (6681)
Some networks have its own images that are put inside phone's firmware, and that will appear whenever the phone is turned off or restarted. There's no option in phone's settings that affect this image, but with Alberto Bilheteria and all his action, you can even disable it...
Open the file and write the path of any single MBM image right after OperSDNoteImg=
If the image you choose has more than one frame, only the first one will be showed. If no path is entered, only default Nokia screen will appear

Change Operator Note Animation (6681)
Open the file , find
OperNoteAnim=
and right after it, enter the path of some MBM file that contains more than one frame. The animation will be showed whenever the phone is turned on, right before standby screen appears. If you only restart the phone, the animation won't show up.Entering no path after
OperNoteAnim=
causes no animation to appear during phone's startup.Note that Operator Note Animation display must be enabled for the animation to appear

Toggle Operator Note Animation display (6681)
If a path is set after
OperNoteAnim=
, you can disable or enable Operator Note Animation display easily with Alberto Bilheteria...
Open the file and change the value of OperNoteType=
to:
2 - animation is on
0 - animation is off

Change directory and max size of cache used by default browser (6681, some N-series)
In Nokia phones that use Symbian OS, the cache folder is set to D:\cache by default. If you browse many heavy pages using default browser, the main RAM of your phone will decrease, cause drive D: is actually a portion of the main RAM that's available as a disk.Overcome this problem with Alberto Bilheteria...
Find the file and open it.In
CacheSize=
, specify the max cache size you want to be stored at cache folder (in Kbytes). In
CacheDir=
, write the path you want the cache folder to be and save the file.Don't put "\" at the end of the path, cause it may result in problems with the browser.Example path: E:\system\browsercache

Toggle Operator Logo menu (6681, some N-series)
Open the file and change the value after
ShowOpLogo=
to 1.A new menu called "Operator Logo" will be available under Settings-Phone-Standby Mode

Change the value to 0 to hide the menu

Toggle VPN menu(6681, some N-series)
Open the file and change the value after
WVPNMenu=
to 1.A new menu called "VPN" will be available under Settings-Connection

Change the value to 0 to hide the menu

Change cookies directory and file name (6681, some N-series)
Go to C:\System\Shareddata\ and create a file named .Then open this file, and write:
FileName=
followed by the path (including the file name) you want the cookies file to be.Example:
FileName=E:\System\Data\BrowserCookies.dat

Set long durations for Screensaver (6600, 6620, 6681)
Open the file and find
ScrSvrPrd=
.Right after it, enter a desired value (in minutes) you want the screensaver to appear and save the file. You can temporally disable the screensaver, by setting a great value like 999999
Note that after having set a impossible value for screensaver, you can decrease screensaver timeout normally in Settings-Phone-Display-Screen Saver timeout.
But if you try to increase the timeout, the value will go back to the max timeout supported normally (30 minutes)

Faster Menu (6681)
Open some application that can kill processes, like System Explorer. While the application is open, press Menu key. When the menu appears, press
Options-Exit to close the menu. Now HOLD Menu key, and switch to that application you'd opened.Go to processes view and find a process called "SATSERVER".Kill it.The process will appear again.Kill it one more time. When the process appears for the third time, kill it.
Press Menu key, and you'll realize entering in folders is much faster than normal.
Note: you can't enter in "Settings" menu after having done this trick. To revert it, use System Explorer and go to Z:\System\Programs\.Find SATSERVER.EXE and press Right in the D-pad to execute it.SATSERVER process will be started and you can enter in "Settings" menu now

Symbian Shell (6681)
Use some file explorer like System Explorer or Fexplorer, and go to Z:\System\Libs\
Find a file called eshell.exe and execute it.A shell will be launched

Change display system (6681)
Go to
Z:\System\Programs\
, find a file called testserver.exe and execute it.
It will simulate the behaviour of a 65536 colors screen, and the phone will be able to run perfectly those applications that don't support screens with more than 65536 colors.Depending on the application you try, it will last only a few seconds, and the phone will reboot.
Note: this trick is specific for Nokia 6681.The file testserver.exe actually exists in many phone models, but its function varies from model to model
