Almost kiss

Roma had left the trailer to try to find a place with signal for her cell phone. Her little baby, Reilly, had had to stay at home with a flu and she wanted to check on her. She sighed in relief when she finished talking to Julie, Reilly’s nanny, who told her the girl was sleeping calmly. She covered herself in her coat as the chilly wind hit her face. She was walking back when something caught her eye. The actress recognized Liz, her hairdresser and Mark, a cameraman that were half hidden in the nearest forest. Roma had always thought they made a beautiful couple and she stayed there for a little while, seeing him cupping her face and kissing her tenderly. After she had divorced, she hadn’t thought about getting involved again, but somehow seeing Liz and mark made her wish to be loved again...

She never heard him coming closer until he pronounced her name while placing a hand over her shoulder. "Roma?"

Roma jumped and turned immediately. "John! You startled me!"

"I’m sorry. I didn’t find you in your trailer... Where were you?"

"I-I went to call home. My phone didn’t have a signal there and I wanted to check on Reilly."

"And how is she?"

She smiled at seeing his sincere worry for her little daughter. "Better now, thanks. She’s sleeping."

John took her hand and brought it to his lips. "Tell her that I missed her today."

"I will."

"What were you looking at?" he asked and chuckled when he saw the sweethearts.

"Aren’t they cute?" she asked with a small note of mischief.

John looked at her and read the secret wish in her eyes. "Wouldn’t you like to feel it again?" he asked purposefully.

Roma turned quickly, started for the second time in a matter of minutes. "I- I don’t know..." she stuttered.

The blond actor felt a lump forming in his throat when he cupped her face and told her lovingly, "You’re young and very pretty... and you so deserve to be loved..." He had brought her face closer to his and he knew she was reading his eyes easily. ‘God, if I only had the courage...!’ he thought.

But the sound of footsteps coming closer made him release her immediately. "John, Roma," Xóchitl, the producer’s assistant appeared then. "I was looking for you, guys. Here are your knew scripts and John, Marta wants to talk to you."
