FINISHING THE RUG

The rug is ended at the upper right curve, at the point you would start a new color.   The technique is to taper the braid so that it will blend into the curve without being noticeable.
  • With wide strips, the tapering can be done by actually trimming each strip to form a pointed end, so the braid becomes smaller and smaller until it ends at a point.  With more narrow strips you will have to sew one of the strips to the braid and cut it off, finishing the braid with the remaining two strips.  Either way you will have some sewing to do on the strips to contain the ragged edges.  The end of the braid is sewn to the rug.
