BRIDGEWATER SCOUTS HISTORY The company is named for a Kentucky State Guard unit which was mustered into service as a company of "Secret Service Men" at Stanford, Lincoln County, on November 10, 1863. Bridgewater and several others joined A and B Companies of the Hall's Gap Battalion in June of 1864, or later, and provided an excellent record of service against guerillas operating in their area. They are most noted for having consistently defeated the notorious William Quantrill during his KY raid. Bridgewater commanded A Company, then was promoted to Major and took command of the battalion. |

COMPANY HISTORY This Lincoln County, Kentucky SVR company was formed in September 2006 by Members of the MAJ James H. Bridgewater Camp 7 of the SUVCW. The Company has 22 Brothers, all but one being Members of the Bridgewater Camp. Brother John Carter is a Member of a Florida Camp and is a descendant of Bridgewater Scouts soldier James Harris. The Company Commander is a recipient of the SVR Distinguished Service Medal and a double recipient of the SVR Meritorious Service Medal. He also serves as Inspector General of the 3d Military District, SVR. The company will primarily assist Camp 7 with monument dedications, recruiting, etc., but is available for any Camp or Department activity requiring uniformed and armed Brothers. Many Brothers also reenact in the 8th KY Cavalry and the 14th KY Light Artillery. The Company leadership is: 1LT Timothy H.
