"The Reunion" |
May 9, 1999 My dear, sweet, darling Shoo: The unthinkable may have happened. Earlier today, a rabbit, so still, was lying in between the two trees in the neighbor's yard. As I sit out here tonight on this warm spring evening, everything within me is hoping... praying... that the rabbit wasn't you. Other cottontails have been seen in and out of the yards, and although I don't want it to be any of them, since it was to be, please, Shoo, don't let it be you. |

One other time, not too long ago, I hadn't seen you for awhile, and I asked you to show yourself... just to come into the yard one more time to let me know that you were o'k. You did come that time Shoo... the very next evening. And now Shoo, I am asking you again, to please come to me if you are o'k so that I will know. My darling friend, if you have decided that a human friendship is not right for you, I will understand. Or, if you now have a family and are just too busy for our evening times together, I will also understand. But please, Shoo, if you are alive and still with me on this earth, please let me know, for I can't imagine the earth without you. My forever friend, I will love you always. |
