"Tracks Through The Snow"

One Winter's Eve the snow lay deep
I couldn't rest, I couldn't sleep;
rose from my bed, went to the door
and looked outside to days of yore.

The wind chimes rang
and in my heart I knew
that somehow I'd be seeing you;
matter not that time had been so long
since we last shared our friendship's song.

The clock struck tweleve in the full moonlight;
but if you were there you were vieled from sight.
I searched the yard I so well knew
with nary a sign nor sight of you.

Rose from the step, went to my bed;
never again to believe what my heart had said
and as visions of you danced through the night
I closed my eyes in the pale moonlight.

The next day dawned, no snow anew;
I looked outside, again, for you
and there in a path that led to my door
were tracks through the snow!
You were there once more!

Even though you rest in dreamless sleep
a friendship made,a friendship keep;
and until the Day comes that we never will part
your tracks through the snow will live in my heart.

Tracks through the snow
that lead to my door;
tracks through the snow;
you were there as before!

And until the Day comes
that we never will part
your tracks through the snow
will live in my heart.
