Review:
Apart of Bergman’s
religious trilogy (Winter Light,The
Silence) this movie explores the relationship of two children competing
for their fathers love. The father is a writer and is distant with his children
and that distance hinders their growth. It's a complex movie and difficult to
understand because it’s so psychologically in-depth, and that’s why this is the
fourth Bergman movie to reach my top twenty. -Review by Mark Caldwell
