Phil. 4:6 How should we let our requests be made known to God?

Are your prayers just filled with requests for things, or do you include a liberal amount of thanks to God for things He’s done (past favors), is doing (present blessings), and will do (future assurances), and why?

And for what specifically?

Col. 2:6, 7 To what extent were these Colossians to have gratitude for Christ and their spiritual life and growth?

Are you satisfied with the extent of your gratitude for Christ and your Christian life and growth, and why?

1 Tim. 2:1, 2 For whom is thanksgivings to be made on behalf of?

[“all men” – all kinds of people, like kings and all types of people in authority].

How often do you thank God for your president, congressmen, governor, mayor, state legislators, judges, etc., and why?

Matt. 15:36; 26:27; Acts 27:35 For what did Jesus and Paul give thanks (Gk. – “eucharistes”)?

Do you give thanks for your food and for Christ’s shed blood for the forgiveness of your sins, and why?

Acts 28:14, 15 For what did Paul give thanks?

When was the last time that you thanked God for Christians who show interest in your life, and why?

Rom. 1:8 Why did Paul thank God for these Roman Christians?

For what do you thank God regarding other Christians?

Rom. 7:24, 25 For what does Paul thank the Lord?

[“the body of this death” – the sin nature’s control, which works through one’s human body (6:6) bringing death spiritually].

Have you ever thanked God for this? If so, how often?

Rom. 14:2, 5, 6 What do the Christian who observes one day of the week for worship of God and the Christian who observes every day of the week for worship of God have in common (as well as one Christian who eats anything compared to another Christian who is a vegetarian)?

Do you give thanks to God for what you believe God would have you to do, and why?

Rom. 16:3, 4 For what and whom did Paul and all the churches of the Gentiles give thanks?

Have you ever thanked God for anything similar to this? If so, what?

1 Cor. 1:14, 15 For what did Paul thank God that he/Paul didn’t do, and why?

Have you ever thanked God for your not doing something? If so, what, and why?

2 Cor. 1:9-11 Why did Paul want these Corinthians to join in helping him and Timothy through their prayers?

Have you ever asked other Christians to pray for you for something specific, so that when God answers that prayer, many people can then thank the Lord, and why?

Eph. 1:13-16; 2 Thes. 2:13 For what doesn’t Paul cease to give thanks for these Christians?

Why do you think that Paul does this?

How frequently do you give thanks to God for the salvation of others that you know because you love them and are glad that they’re going to heaven?

And if you’re a Christian, how often do you thank God for your salvation, and why?

Eph. 5:20; 1 Thes. 5:18 What are we told to do, and why?

[“in Christ’s name” – because it was He who earned/gained all these blessings for us].

Do you give thanks to God at all times (any time) and for all things (anything circumstantially), realizing that all things work together for good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose (Rom. 8:28), and why?

Phil. 1:3; Col. 1:3; 1 Thes. 1:2; Philemon 1:4 What does Paul do in all of these verses?

Why do you think Paul does this?

Col. 3:15-17 What three commands are given about thankfulness?

Are you thankful for the benefits you’ve received from God (vss. 3, 4, 11)?

Do you sing with thankfulness in your heart to God?

And do you give thanks to God in whatever you do in word or deed for His glory, that He’s given you the strength, ability, intelligence, and opportunity to do, and why?

1 Thes. 2:13 For what other reason did Paul constantly thank God?

Do you thank God when people you speak (quote or teach) the Bible to accept it as God’s word, and why?

2 Thes. 1:3 Why does Paul say that he, Timothy, and Silvanus should always give thanks to God for these Thessalonians?

[“faith greatly enlarged” – they trusted God both in more areas of their lives and to a greater degree in areas they were already trusting Him].

Do you know if anyone has ever thanked God for these things being true in your life? If not, how can you find out?

Does anyone love you enough to thank God for the spiritual progress/growth in your life?

And are you interested in the lives of other Christians to the point where you thank God for their spiritual growth in specific areas?

Heb. 13:15 For whom should we continually give thanks?

1 Chron. 23:27, 30 What was one of the responsibilities of the Levites?

Why do you think this was important?

Do you daily thank and praise God, and why?

And for what?
