UNGRATEFULNESS

 

 

Num. 16:8-10       For what were the Levites (i.e., the priests’ helpers) and the 250 leaders of Israel from the tribe of Reuben ungrateful?

                How did God punish them for their ungratefulness, vss. 31-35?

 

                Do you ever express your ungratefulness to God for the position or spiritual gift He’s given you by wanting someone else’s leadership position or spiritual gift, and why?

 

Deut. 8:11-14; 6:10-12                      For what were the Israelites warned to not be ungrateful?

 

                If the Israelites would ever become ungrateful to God for giving them great material prosperity and deliverance from slavery by pursuing other gods, what did God say would be their punishment (6:15; 8:19)?

                Do you ever express ungratefulness to God for all the material and financial blessings He’s given you by worshipping (giving excessive devotion in terms of time, energy, and attention to) other gods (e.g., sports, career, education, money, music, computers, family, cars, girl/boyfriends, etc.), and why?

 

Deut. 28:47, 48                    By not doing what, would the Israelites express their ungratefulness to God for the abundance of all things He was to give them?

                What would be their punishment for being ungrateful for the abundance of all things God was going to give them?

 

                Do you ever express your ungratefulness to God for all the things He’s given you by your not serving Him with joy and a glad heart, and why?

 

Deut. 32:5, 6, 10-18            How did Israel show their ungratefulness to God being their Father, Creator, Guide, Deliverer, Protector, and Provider (vss. 15-18)?

                How was God going to punish them for their ungratefulness, vss. 23-25?

 

                Are you ungrateful to God being your Creator, Heavenly Father, Guide, Protector, Provider, and Savior by forsaking, scorning, neglecting, forgetting about, and/or provoking Him through your spending excessive time, energy, attention, and devotion to: money, cars, sports, music, computers, weight-lifting, career/job, school, TV, martial arts, video games, girl/boyfriend, etc.?

 

Judg. 8:34, 35; 10:11-13                   How did Israel show their ungratefulness to God for delivering and protecting them from their enemies?

Do you show your ungratefulness to God for protecting you from harm by forgetting about Him by your not having a daily quiet time of Bible reading, meditation upon it, and talking to Him in prayer, and why?

 

1 Sam. 8:4-8; 10:19            How did the leaders of Israel show their ungratefulness to God being their King, who protected and provided for them?

What was God’s penalty to Israel for their ungratefulness in not wanting Him as Ruler over them, but rather wanting to be like everyone else in having a human king over them, 8:11-18?

 

                Do you show your ungratefulness to God by not wanting Him to be the Lord/Master/Controller over your life and, instead, being like the world by being in charge of your own life, doing whatever you want, whenever you want, and why?

 

1 Sam. 15:17-19                  Though Saul was once a nobody, God made him king over Israel. How did Saul show his ungratefulness to God for this?

                What was God’s punishment for Saul’s ungratefulness?

Do you show your ungratefulness to God making you a somebody when you were a nobody by your not completely obeying what He says to you in the Bible and, instead, picking and choosing what you want to obey, and why?

 

2 Sam . 12:7-9      How did David show his ungratefulness to the Lord in making him king over Israel, delivering him from evil Saul, and giving him Saul’s house and wives after Saul’s death?

                What was God’s punishment for this ungratefulness, vss. 10, 11, 15, 18?

 

                Are you ever ungrateful to God by breaking His commands, even though He’s given you so much and has protected you from harm?

 

1 Ki. 15:34; 16:1, 2             For what was Baasha ungrateful to God through his being idolatrous and making Israel idolatrous?

 

                What would be his punishment for his ungratefulness, vss. 3, 4?

                Do you ever show your ungratefulness to God in exalting you to some prominent position by your idolizing: music, sports, money, cars, computers, college degrees, job, etc.?

 

2 Chron. 26:15-19              How did Uzziah/Azariah show his ungratefulness to God for helping him become a militarily strong king?

 

                How did God punish him, vss. 20, 21?

                Do you ever show your ungratefulness to God’s helping or promoting you in some way by pridefully doing something you shouldn’t?             If so, what was it?

 

2 Chron. 32:24, 25              How did Hezekiah show his ungratefulness for God healing him when he was sick to the point of death?

 

                And why was he ungrateful?

                What was God’s response?

                Does pride ever keep you from gratefully thanking God for His restoring your health when you were sick, and why?

 

Num. 11:1, 4-10, 19, 20                     Instead of being grateful that God was faithfully and daily providing manna to eat in the wilderness, what did the Israelites do (vss. 1, 4)?

 

                How did God punish them for their ungratefulness in rejecting His provision for them, vs. 33?

                Are you ever ungrateful to God for the food He provides you and, instead, you complain about it?

 

Jer. 5:7, 8, 24       How did the people of Judah show their ungratefulness to God in His providing them lots of food, rains, and harvest?

 

                How would God punish them for their ungratefulness as expressed by their idolatry and adultery, vss. 15, 17?

 

                Are you ungrateful to God for providing you with plenty of food as expressed through your having immoral, sexual relations and through giving excessive devotion to: money, cars, sports, job, school, computers, music, etc.?

 

Ezek. 16:17-21; Hosea 2:8                How were the people of Jerusalem and of Israel ungrateful for the gold, silver, food, clothing, and children that God had given them?

 

                How would God punish them for their ungratefulness (Ezek. 16:27, 37-41; Hosea 2:9-13)?

 

             Are you ungrateful to God by making idols out of (worshipping through excessive devotion to) the things He gives you (e.g., musical instruments, singing voice, athletic abilities, sports equipment, muscles, weight set, money, computer, cars, tools, job, girl/boyfriend, intelligence, school, degrees, etc.), and why?

 

Dan. 5:18-23, 30                  Both King Nebuchadnezzar and his son, King Belshazzar, were ungrateful to God for their being made kings and their being given grandeur, glory, and majesty. How did they show their ungratefulness?

 

                How did God punish them?

 

                Does your ungratefulness to God for giving you talents, skills, abilities, position, and/or possessions express itself in your being prideful, that is, taking the credit for accomplishments achieved, and why?

 

Lk. 17:12-18        How did nine of the 10 lepers show their ungratefulness to Jesus?

 

                When God heals you of some illness, do you thank Him (give Him the glory) for it?

 

Rom. 1:21             In what way does pagan humanity express their ungratefulness to God?

Jer. 18:11, 18-21                How did the people of Judah show their ungratefulness to Jeremiah, even though he spoke good on their behalf to God?

                Are you ever ungrateful to Christians who are seeking your best welfare in praying for you as well as correcting and instructing you in the ways of God, and why?

 

2 Chron. 24:22-25              How did Joash show his ungratefulness to Jehoiada the priest, who set Joash on the throne (23:3, 16) and was like a father to Joash?
