The man who created these beings was Doctor Soong. He had first made Data in his own image then he made Lore, Lal, (not functional) and Dr. Juliana Tainer who was Soong's late wife.
Androids have a positronic brain that makes them a lot more intelligent then any human and even a vulcan. Their positronic brain alows them to make quick calulations and to store an incredible amount of information.
They are also a lot more stronger then a human and have an extreme sense of touch, combined with a very high manual dexterity. He is immune to all forms of disease and poisons, and is capable of hearing sounds at both ends of the scale at higher and lower ranges than humans.
