My name is
Lisa, I also go by Kat.
I'm married (10 years now) with three children; Rebecca will
be 9 in September, Tyler will be 7 in November, and my
baby Ashley turns 4 in October.
I've recently returned to school, studying to become a real
estate salesperson (and hopefully in the future, obtain my
broker's license and also become a licensed appraiser).
I have five cats, two of which live with my mom. The other
three cats, along with 22 hermit crabs and about 70 guppies, are
here with us; we live with my inlaws and my MIL's mother right
now. We live in NW suburban Chicagoland, but are hoping to
relocate to Florida within the year (it's been in the works for a
couple of years now). The cats are as follows. Bandit
is a 14.5 YO male DSH, tabby/calico, and he suffers from CRF; my
mom and I have come to an agreement that he is ready to cross to
the Bridge, and as of this writing the date for that crossing will
be July 30, 2005 (end of this month); I had gotten him from a
coworker when he was only 6 weeks old, so he has been with us most
of his life. Tasha Yar was a rescue, a three-month-old
kitten living in the alley behind the grocery where I worked; the
farmstand manager and I caught her in a watermelon crate and she
came home with me (after a short trip to the vet); she is a 13 YO
female DSH, tabby/calico; both Tasha and Bandit live with my
mom. Abigail van Purren (a.k.a. Abby) is a 12.5 YO female
torbie; we got her at age 3 from a shelter that had a booth at a
large local pet show, when I was pregnant with Becca. Kasidy
Yates is another shelter cat, she is an almost-7 YO female DSH,
tabby/calico; we picked her up from a shelter in Monroe NC (we
lived in the Charlotte area for a year) shortly after I gave birth
to Tyler. Kira Nerys is a 3 YO female DSH,
tabby/calico; a shelter cat, she came to us when shortly after I
had to euth a 3.5 YO cat, some online friends chipped in to pay
for the adoption of a new cat, to help my children cope with
Smoky's death. I have two cats awaiting my arrival at the
Bridge; Muffin died 4-18-92 at age 14.5, from CRF; he was a feral
kitten my mom and I tamed and taught to live indoors 100%; and
Smoky was the 3.5 YO I mentioned above, he was part Maine Coon and
gorgeous; I discovered him living in the drive-thru of a
McDonald's in Gastonia NC, and caught him with a Chicken McNugget
and a baby blanket; he was about 6 weeks old; he died from HCM and
cancer of the bladder.
I do
have a web site, it has not been worked on in a few years but some
pages are fairly complete. http://www.oocities.org/johnsgift
is the address.
