Seventy-five Ouragans served in the IAF, the
first arriving in time to participate with distinction in the 1956 war.
They attacked armor in the Sinai desert and helped capture the Egyptian
destroyer Ibrahim El Awal which had been shelling Haifa. These durable
and dependable planes remained in service in both a strike and operational
training role. During the Six Day War they attacked Arab airfields on all
fronts.
