Pickens County 9-1-1
Staffed by Personnel trained to handle all types of emergencies, this department mans three positions which receives and dispatches emergency and non emergency calls for every public safety agency in the county. A forth position is available for overflow calls. Although Pickens 9-1-1 is a basic system, we are equipped with our own database which includes location look-ups by occupant, owner, telephone number, road name, and record number.

Pickens County Sheriff's Department
This department is headed up by Sheriff Billy P. Wofford who has held this office since 1981. Sheriff Wofford's Chief Deputy is Donald E. Craig . The department is divided into the following divisions:
Administration: Overseeing this division is Lieutenant Allen Wigington. There are three other staff members assigned to this division.
Uniform Patrol Division: Overseen by Major James "Greg" Collis, this division has 15 personnel assigned. Major Collis sports the departments newest Patrol Car .
Communications: Overseen by Lieutenant Gaylon Mathews, this division has 18 civilian employees that handle all the County's 9-1-1 calls.
D.A.R.E. Is administered by Lieutenant Rebecca Boone . Becky handles this task alone.
Criminal Investigations Division: Overseen by Lieutenant Chris Romine , this division has four personnel assigned.
Detention: Overseen by Lieutenant Wayne Jones , this division has thirteen personnel assigned and houses an average of forty inmates per day.
Court Services Division: Also overseen by Lieutenant Wayne Jones has two personnel assigned.
Appalachian Drug Task Force: Overseen by GBI Agent Rusty Grant, this department is staffed by twelve personnel and is responsible for drug supression in eight counties, one of which is Pickens County.
Board of Education Campus Police: Randall Young and Randall Wofford provide safety for our children on five different campuses around Pickens County.
Pickens County Fire & Rescue: This service consists of twelve departments throughout the county, two of which are specialized services; Georgia Forestry and Pickens County Rescue . Although a municipal agency, Jasper Fire Department is part of the county fire defense and remains the largest and busiest department in the county.
Pickens County Emergency Medical Services: This department is overseen by Director Darryl Prince anf consists of four ambulances completely equipped for advanced life support and are manned by highly trained EMT's and Paramedics . There are two stations. Station one in Jasper, and Station two in Tate.
Jasper Police Department: Overseen by Chief Harold Cantrell , this department has eleven personnel and patrols the countys largest municipality.
Nelson Police Department: Chief Jim Roberts oversees this department and is now the only officer serving this small town. Nelson is a tiny town on the Pickens, Cherokee County line and the only city in the county that has radar.
