Where are you from? Wiltshire Earliest memory? Dressing my dog up in mum’s clothes Favourite place? Tao Tong on Koh Tao - Thailand Favourite music? Everything - but the big players are Stevie Wonder, The Kooks and The Killers. Any special qualifications/achievements that you're proud of? Just making my parents proud occasionally is my greatest achievement… or at least the one I’m the most proud of. First job? Cashier at a corner shop.. got fired though because they hadn’t realized I was only 12. Best job? Zip-wiring off the edge of the Avon Gorge for work and charity .. although I was terribly hung-over… and it did seem horrific at the time. .. had a great feeling afterwards though. Dream job? Monster-truck test driver How did you get started in doing what you do? I went on work experience at the local paper and found a story so they offered to take me on as a trainee. How long ago? A billion years. Where would you have been seen or heard since you started broadcasting? Well I’ve had my name in print locally and nationally but in terms of broadcasting really only at Anglia TV and ITV West. Best on-air moment? Probably the moment I finished reading my first bulletin – it was such a rush, I couldn’t believe nothing bizarre or hideously embarrassing had happened to me. Worst on-air moment (embarrassing or otherwise)? Hmmm… hearing this in my ear while getting ready for a bulletin supposedly ten minutes away has to be a winner: Person 1: “ooh noo” Producer: “What!!!” Person 1: “ooh noo” Producer: ”what!!” Person 1: “We’re on air” Producer: “WHAT!!! – well how long have we been on?!!!!!” Person 1: “I don’t know” Producer: “Well how long till we’re off air?!!!” Person 2: “I don’t know”… Producer: “Christ….” Describe a typical working day (if there is such a thing!) There is no such thing - some days I report, some days I’m on earlies, some days I’m on lates and sometimes I’m producing or planning the week ahead. My life is a little bit odd. Any ambitions left? Loads – I want to help everyone and everything in the world, I want to see the world, see world peace, become a martial arts genius/x-woman, … there’s just way too much to mention. Biggest influence in your life? My family. Best advice that you've been given and why? Ooh I don’t know - its embarrassingly cheesy I know but it’s true. The advice is: Forget everything else because that will all fall into line because love (whether it’s for your parents or whoever) is all that matters in life.” Cringe…well its true. Any hobbies or special interests? Traveling, reading (obviously), swimming and (lately) firewalking. Any advice for those who want to get started in broadcasting? Make sure you have a life outside work and don’t go into it for the money. Thanks to Keri for answering our questions, Watch Granada News/Reports, daily across the North West on ITV1 Granada.
