11-22-02: This day, 1992, 70 geese on pond (rain water and melt on top of ice; heard them breaking through);
1997 @1600 hrs., 50 plus SNOW GEESE circled frozen pond twice and then went on their way.
11-23-02: First nuthatch spotted at sunflower feeders at 1030 hrs. Flicker hasn't returned. Red squirrell a pest
12-02-02: This day, 1997, "18 hen turkeys 'paraded' slowly,pecking sand,uphill on road past house to woods."
Today, 1215 hrs, common (Eastern) goldfinches at sunflower feeders in their winter, olive drab garb, F & M.
12-03-02: Today, 0800, mourning dove on ground under mixed seed feeder. Temperature 5 degrees!
12-04-02: This day, 1998, "beavers back in old house on 'Dog Island'." Today, 0900, squirrels feasting on maple tree "polly nose" (samara) seeds at tips of branches, despite literally thousands on the ground; also, at 1600, ten doves in front yard feeding underneath the mixed seed feeder, from which bluejays dump seed
12-06-02: In 1991,beavers blocking lrg culvert undr road.Wntr house located by 2nd spruce, S side of marsh.
12-07-02: This day, 2000, 1115hrs, small red tailed hawk with red squirrel lifted off road by large spruce tree.
12-13-02: 0800, saw simultaneously a Red Bellied woodpecker and a Downy at each of the two suet feeders.
12-17-02: 1200, saw Tufted Titmouse at a sunflower seed feeder.
12-20-02: 0415, 4 deer outlined against snow cover 100' from house across the road grazing on exposd grass
12-22-02: Recent warm weather has chipmunks abandoning hibernation and scurrying around atop snow.

1-01-03: Greeted by female cardinal on ground under feeders upon my return home; away since 12/24
1-03-03: Forced to take down a large wooden bird feeder that a sky diving squirrel was using as landing field
1100hrs, stunning Red Bellied woodpecker back at suet (vermillion head, barred back); male cardinal @ 1600.
1-04-03: ADDENDUM- This day, 1974, "ten robins in back apple tree."
1-06-03: Large number of doves under feeders; other birds numerous, too; 20" snow cover & vegtatn coverd.
1-11-03: Had to raise two bird feeders, as a squirrel was jumping up to get at them! What next ? My feeders are suspended by fine, strong wire from 4-8' from the lower limbs of the huge, front yard maple tree.
1-12-03: 0730, three red squirrels under bird feeders. They have burrowed into the deep snow pack nearby.
The acrobatic squirrel ran 4' up the maple's trunk and then took a leap sideways at a feeder 6' away & hit it!
1-14-03: Again, acrobatic squirrel leaped from tree onto flat, wire screening suet feeder, then hand over hand while upsidedown crossed 4' of wire to a sunflower feeder. Moved another feeder!At 1030 there was a female downy woodpecker at the suet. At 1230 three hen turkeys walked up the road past the house toward woods.
1-16-03:This day, 1995, with high temp at farm=58,"large flock of geese on pond's watery ice1700-0800 17th
1-17-03: This day, 1982, Gert A. and I saw 5 pairs of cardinals feeding in front yard.
1-18-03: At 1400, two crows in front yard under feeders. Most unusual. Bad pickings on the roads? Installed inverted, large plastic funnels above the hanging feeders. Hopefully, these will deflect sky diving squirrels!
2-02-03: This day, 1988, "Heard geese at 1800 south toward the (Mohawk) river."
2-04-03: A squirrel killed himself when he landed directly on the ground while trying to drop six feet from a branch to a bird feeder. His actual fall was ten feet. Obviously, he didn't land on his feet!
2-09-03: This day, 2001, 12 hen turkeys regularly visiting front yard and across the road at the grass patch.
2-15-03: Three crows feeding under the front yard bird feeders.
2-16-03: This day, 1992, robins in the front yard
2-21-03: This day, 2002, "Bluebird flew cross backyard; 59 degree high temp at Albany, 53 yesterday."
2-22-03: This day, 1981, redwing blackbirds down by pond; 1993, rabid raccoon attacked my dog, "Moe," mid-afternoon and was killed by CGS. Raccoon tested positive for rabies at the NYS DEC laboratory.
2-23-03: This day, 1993, "male bluebird in the front yard trees."
2-24-03: This day, 1979, single robin seen at farm.
2-25-03: This day, 1997, "Bluebird on post across the road."
