Ultra-Angeles: Kodachrome in 3-D
The Stereo Photography of Jack Laxer
dkrm.gallery
The buildings he photographs are the best in
American design, Paul R. Williams was a mentor of his.
He triumphs in 3-D twice here by diagonal
angles and planes that carry the details back to the far wall (“Dimy’s”,
Long Beach, CA, Architects: Armet & Davis, and “Kitchen of Tomorrow”,
Motorama, Pan-Pacific Auditorium, both 1956). This is exactly comparable
with the best 3-D photography of the Eames Office.
Another great photographer, Julius
Shulman, has been called into comparison, and the comparison is apt.
