Terrestrial Eclipse
The Shadow of the Earth on the Moon by Jim Ovelmen at POST
Edifice-Oedipus by Habib Kheradyar at London Street Projects
I
A shadow, thus an eclipse caused by the
earth between the sun and the moon.
A geodesic dome of two-ply cloth (gray on
black) making striped moirés, some of its panels open and dangling.
A video link between the two.
II
A video camera affixed to the underside of
POST’s hydraulic elevator projects its rise and return onto a sort of globe,
amid images and bric-à-brac suggestive of moon landings
III
The geodesic dome tied at its interstices,
bunching the cloth like Jay De Feo’s Rose. Spectators inside it,
seen from the projected globe.
IV
The projected globe, seen from the dome.
